Welcome to our Mange Gallery. These photos should help you identify sarcoptic mange in wild canids such as the coyote and fox. If you aren’t sure, or you have any questions whatsoever, please give us a call @ 1-855-WILD-HELP to speak with a specialist or send us an email.
If you come across a fox or a coyote that you believe has mange please give us a call at the Wildlife Hotline. Take note of where the animal was seen, how it was acting, and what time of day it is, and how often you see it. If you believe that you will have a reasonable chance of getting food to the animal, please consider signing up for our ‘Mange by Mail’ program. With a minimum donation of $10 we can MAIL the medication to treat mange to your home. The medication can be injected into canned dog food, or various meat products, and left out for the sick animal. ONE DOSE of this medication can drastically change the survival rate of these animals. A repeated dose, two weeks later, would be preferable, but is often not possible because the animal FEELS so much better after one dose that they go back to natural behavior of hunting for food and will not eat handouts again.
